Yet another opp to donate

>Subject: Please Help Injured Soldiers From Iraq Have A Happy Holiday
>Date: Fri, 1 Dec 2006 16:45:25 -0500
>
>I hope all is well with everyone as we approach the Holiday Season. I
>am writing you to tell you about a charitable cause that I truly
>believe in. For the past year I have been supervising science student
>who come to Washington DC to intern and gain professional experience in
>their fields of studies. Over the past year I have had at least a
>dozen students who have interned at both the VA Medical Center and
>Walter Reed Medical Center.

>They have been working with injured soldiers nursing them back to
>health. I have had students working in the mental health unit, medical
>research, cardiac rehab, and physical therapy. These hospitals are so
>overstressed with the aging veterans from past wars and peace times and
>soldiers returning with major injuries having survived Explosive
>Devices (IEDs).

>Because of the land mines and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs),
>there are many amputees in wheelchairs that must be pushed from
>place-to-place within the hospital and grounds, and from their quarters
>to the various clinics. When wounds are from mines and IEDs, they
>include multiple wounds to all parts of the body involving all clinics from
A to Z.
>The wounded, being treated at the hospital, include all branches of the
>Armed Forces (Army, Marines, Sailors, Air Force and Coast Guard, both
>men and women). The Family Assistance Center provides assistance to the
>wounded during their stay at the hospital and the family member
>(normally spouse or mother of the wounded individual).

>Because of the expedient method to get them from the battlefield to
>WRAMC, the wounded arrive with nothing. Their personal items are in
>Iraq or Afghanistan to be shipped to them later. Therefore, the
>wounded men and women need many critical items to sustain them. Please
>help make their recovery effort by contributing the items, the address
>to mail the items to (or drop off items) is:
>WALTER REED ARMY MEDICAL CENTER
>MEDICAL FAMILY ASSISTANCE CENTER
>BUILDING 2, 3RD FLOOR, ROOM 3E01
